Berry Cooper

Berry Cooper exemplifies the passion and experience that have become calling cards for Deal, Cooper & Holton among former clients, as well as other members of the Memphis legal community. Berry, a 1988 graduate of the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis, has concentrated his practice in the Mid South. Berry learned the ropes of civil trial work early on from his partners Ben Todd and Tony Deal. This background led to a fruitful career as a litigator and trial lawyer. Berry has completed numerous jury trials as lead counsel, and negotiated countless multi-million dollar settlements for his clients.

In addition to his legal experience, Berry brings a passion for helping injured persons that he learned over years of helping his family care for his severely handicapped brother. He learned first hand the obstacles and bureaucratic red tape involved with his brother’s life care. He knows the frustration that dealing with these obstacles can create. He has used his personal experiences to help steer clients in the direction of proper money management and life-care planning, to ensure that their family members receive the best care.

As evidenced by his professional track record and reputation in the community, he’s been dedicated to helping serve the legal needs of Mid-South residents and beyond, while also being committed to giving back to the city where he resides. Berry frequently reaches out to his community, and was recently pictured in the Commercial Appeal alongside Shawna Engel in an article discussing the Deal, Cooper & Holton endowed scholarship for excellence in trial advocacy.

Berry is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by both the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Tennessee Commission on Specialization. Berry’s professional organization involvement also includes his designation as a sustaining member of the Board of Governors of the Tennessee Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice.

Berry is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is on the Board of Governors of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association. His areas of practice concentration include product liability, pharmaceutical litigation, wrongful death torts, 18-Wheeler and auto accidents, and other personal injuries.
